Evaluation & Medication Management

Dr. Hanita Chhabra, M.D.

I am proud to have been born and raised in the area. After completing medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, I initially started my training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I later changed to Psychiatry and completed my training at the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. I am a board certified adult psychiatrist with subspecialty certification in psychosomatic medicine. I was a consulting psychiatrist at Sheppard Pratt Hospital and Greater Baltimore Medical Center for 5 years before moving to Anne Arundel County. These experiences helped solidify my comfort with prescribing medications for a variety of psychiatric illnesses, especially in complex cases and in combination with medical issues.

My practice focuses on psychiatric consultation and medication management, and TMS. This includes but is not limited to, diagnosis, designing a treatment plan, second opinion consultations, prescribing and managing medications, and legal expert opinions. Areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, geriatrics, and medical illness. Special interests include womens mental health and TMS. TransCranial Magnetic Stimulation is a cutting edge treatment alternative for patients with depression and chronic pain/headaches who either do not respond to or are unable to take antidepressants,

Dr. Thomas Sixbey, M.D

I am a Johns Hopkins trained psychiatrist with 17 years of practice experience andhave expertise in most areas of psychiatry, including geriatrics, consult liaison psychiatry, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia, and forensics. My experience includes being medical director of an adult psychiatry inpatient unit as well as treating inpatient and outpatient PTSD/traumatic brain injury patients at Walter Reed. I also have training in the interface between psychiatric and somatic issues. While my primary focus in care is psychopharmacology, I also pay close attention to behavioral and somatic issues and take these into consideration when formulating diagnosis and treatment. My approach starts with knowing the whole person and understanding their affliction within the context of their life story, personality and behaviors.I see adults, ages 18 and older. I believe in solutions based on the presenting person and problem, rather than attempting to fit everyone into the same therapeutic modality. My approach is conservative and based on evidence.
